Special Education Para Professional in Torrance, CA

Begin an impactful role supporting students as a Bus Aide for the 26/27 school year. This contract opportunity is ideal for caring, safety-conscious professionals who are looking to make a real difference in the lives of students with special needs on their daily commutes. Support is needed for morning and afternoon routes, requiring presence for approximately 10-15 hours weekly, depending on specific bus routes.

You’ll ride alongside students, ensuring their safety and comfort between home and school locations. The assignment begins as soon as possible and extends through May 28, 2027, with a strong likelihood of renewal for ESY and the following school year.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience as a paraprofessional, bus aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant
• Background working with special needs students, including previous experience riding the bus with students
• Verbal deescalation skills and the ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in various situations
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance
• Effective communication skills with both students and transportation staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students on and off the bus and support them en route
• Monitor student behavior and address any needs or concerns during transport
• Communicate promptly with school personnel regarding any issues
• Follow established pick-up and drop-off procedures as described, accompanying the bus driver to and from the student’s home
• Maintain a supportive, attentive presence throughout the journey
