Special Education Para Professional in Torrance, CA

Step into an impactful role supporting students by serving as a Bus Aide for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers flexibility, meaningful connections, and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse needs.

As a Bus Aide, you'll work closely with students and drivers, ensuring a safe and supportive environment during transit. With openings to fill, this is an excellent position for Paraprofessionals or Certified Nursing Assistants who have experience working with children—especially those with special needs—and who are skilled in verbal de-escalation. The morning and afternoon shifts allow for a flexible schedule, averaging 10-15 hours per week, depending on route assignments.

Desired Background & Experience:

• Paraprofessional certification or CNA credentials welcomed
• Prior experience riding as an aide or assistant on a school bus, preferably serving students with special needs
• Strong verbal de-escalation and communication skills
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine ability to connect with children
• Reliability and punctuality for morning (6:30–8:30 am) and afternoon (2:30–4:30 pm) shifts
• Willingness to complete full onboarding and maintain professional communication with staff and supervisors

Key Responsibilities:

• Ride in the vehicle with students to and from school, providing direct supervision and care
• Assist with pick-up and drop-off procedures, coordinating with school staff and drivers
• Support students with their immediate needs during transit
• Report any concerns or incidents as required
