Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Paraprofessional or Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and staff to facilitate accessibility and understanding
  • Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting diverse learning needs
  • Proficiency in documentation and reporting student progress

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation and communication support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within classroom and school environments
  • Assist with academic, behavioral, and social goals as outlined in student plans
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce lesson content and encourage student participation
  • Support teachers by preparing instructional materials and assisting with classroom management as needed
  • Foster independence and self-advocacy among students, encouraging their growth and development
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with school district guidelines and policies
