A unique opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to serve as an American Sign Language (ASL) paraprofessional within a supportive school environment near Universal City, TX. This contract role offers the chance to make a significant impact on students with hearing loss for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position will start as soon as possible and continue through the end of May 2027, with interviews scheduled for the last week in October.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold an associate degree or higher, or have at least 48 college semester hours recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional agency and completion of a paraeducator course (Stedi.org with 70%+ score)
• Alternatively, possess hands-on experience in pediatric or school-based settings, preferably supporting children with hearing loss
• Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred
• Must meet credentialing requirements, including passing a fingerprint/background check

Responsibilities:

• Work on-site at either Highlands High School or Mission Academy, both within close proximity
• Support students—approximately 10 at the high school and 30 at the academy—helping to facilitate their access to learning through ASL interpretation and academic assistance
• Collaborate with educators and staff to create an inclusive, supportive environment
• Monitor student progress, adapting support as needs change, and maintain relevant records
