Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a paraprofessional or classroom aide is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and effective interpreting skills in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with diverse learning and communication needs
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with students, teachers, and support staff
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certification in ASL or as a paraprofessional is a plus
  • Flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead teachers with classroom instruction and adapt learning activities to meet individual student needs
  • Provide direct support and interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
  • Collaborate with special education staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Support students with personal, academic, and social development as needed
  • Maintain documentation of services provided and student progress
