Special Education Para Professional in Wakefield, RI

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students! Two full-time paraprofessional openings are available, each offering a meaningful chance to create a positive impact throughout the full school year. You will work on beautiful Block Island, with the unique requirement to reside locally during the work week due to ferry scheduling.

Openings include:

• A 1:1 support role providing focused assistance to a specific student, along with occasional coverage of other student needs throughout the day.
• A classroom-based position collaborating with teachers to support learning and engagement for all students.

Desired Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior paraprofessional experience is welcomed but not required—enthusiastic individuals eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
• RBT certification is preferred, but we are happy to assist candidates in obtaining this credential.
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a nurturing approach to student support.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs in dynamic educational settings.
• Must be able to live on Block Island during the work week due to ferry transport.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide encouragement and instructional support to students, either individually or in groups.
• Assist classroom educators with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for learners of all abilities.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school and district guidelines.
• Participate in training, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
