An educational institution in Washington, DC is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional with specialized American Sign Language (ASL) skills to support students in a contract position. This role is integral to creating an inclusive learning environment tailored to the needs of individuals requiring additional assistance.

Responsibilities include providing one-on-one support to students, utilizing ASL for effective communication, and collaborating with educators to assist with behavioral and academic challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience working in special education settings, preferably with students on the autism spectrum or those facing severe behavioral issues.

Key qualifications and experience required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful completion of the ParaPro Exam
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred
• Certification in ASL interpretation or equivalent proficiency
• Experience working with individuals with autism or severe behavioral and academic challenges strongly preferred

Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
