Step into a dynamic role supporting elementary students as a Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide near Waterbury, CT. This full-time, contract position offers 32 onsite hours per week for the 2023-2024 school year. As an essential part of the educational team, you’ll work closely with teachers and staff to ensure students—especially those in special education—receive the individualized attention and support they deserve.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience as a Paraprofessional in a school setting
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special education needs
  • Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Skilled in implementing and supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Comfortable with data collection and eager to collaborate with teachers and specialists
  • Ability to adapt teaching materials and strategies to accommodate diverse student needs
  • Understanding of assistive technologies and specialized techniques for students with disabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, time management, and communication abilities
  • Reliable, punctual, and possesses a solid work ethic
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for supporting students facing various learning and behavioral challenges

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with students, providing academic, behavioral, and physical support
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies and behavior plans
  • Help track and report student progress using diverse data collection methods
  • Adapt materials and instructional techniques to foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Engage positively with parents and support staff to maintain effective communication
