Instructional Assistant - Waterbury, CT

Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting elementary students as a Paraprofessional/Teacher’s Aide in a contract role for the 2023-2024 school year. This full-time, onsite position (32 hours per week) is ideal for someone enthusiastic about special education, ready to nurture learning, and eager to work collaboratively in a dynamic school environment near Waterbury, CT.

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous school-based paraprofessional experience
• Direct experience working with children, ideally in special education
• Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices
• Ability to help develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with students, teachers, and families
• Willingness to adapt instructional strategies and resources for various learning needs
• Skilled in data collection and progress monitoring
• Comfortable working with students who may have challenging behaviors or physical disabilities
• Strong reliability, organization, and time-management skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support to teachers and students in the classroom
• Assist in implementing IEPs and classroom routines
• Monitor and document student progress through data collection
• Adapt learning materials to meet individual student needs

• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families
