An exciting opportunity awaits for skilled paraprofessionals looking to make a difference in a middle school setting near Waterbury, CT. This contract position features two full-time roles, each supporting a student one-on-one with a moderate caseload. You’ll work 35 hours per week in a dynamic educational environment, helping students achieve their potential both academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a paraprofessional or behavior technician in a school setting
- Comfortable working one-on-one with middle school students
- Ability to support students with moderate needs and adapt to different learning styles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and parents
- Dependable, patient, and able to maintain a positive attitude
- Experience collecting data and implementing behavior or learning plans is highly preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to assigned middle school students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks
- Assist students with academic tasks and behavioral goals as directed by classroom teachers and specialists
- Implement individualized strategies to encourage student engagement and growth
- Foster independence, self-advocacy, and positive interactions among students
- Support documentation efforts by tracking student progress and behaviors accurately
- Participate in team meetings, training, and regular communication with the school team
