Seeking experienced paraprofessionals to support special education students in a Waterbury, CT school setting. The role, identified as Student Care Worker, involves working with elementary and intermediate level caseloads across grades K-8, engaging in both 1:1 student support and collaborative classroom activities alongside lead teachers and supervisors. This contract position offers weekly pay and benefits.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers in the supervision and instruction of students with special education needs, following Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and recommendations outlined in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings. The role supports student learning and educational objectives within an inclusive school environment.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Prior experience working in school behavioral or special education settings, or directly related experience
  • Ability to work effectively 1:1 with students as well as in classroom group settings
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Compliance with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements, by having either: • An Associate’s Degree or higher, or • Sufficient college credits • Or having passed the Parapro Assessment Examination
