Bring your compassion and skills to a contract opportunity working as a Student Care Worker supporting students across elementary and intermediate levels. This position is based near Waterbury, CT and provides a meaningful way to make a difference in a school setting, working collaboratively with classroom teachers and supervisors to provide both one-on-one and group support.
In this role, you’ll play a vital part in fostering a supportive academic environment for students in grades K–5 and 6–8. Engaged in both classroom activities and individual support, you’ll help implement education plans and contribute to student achievement—particularly for those with behavioral or special education needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Must meet NCLB qualifications: possess an Associate’s degree or higher, sufficient college credits, or have passed the Parapro Assessment Exam
- Previous experience with school behavioral/special education or similar settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, supervisors, and other staff
- Passion for supporting students’ educational progress
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with special education students, supporting instruction as outlined in PPT and IEP documents
- Provide 1:1 assistance as well as classroom support under the direction of lead teachers
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom atmosphere
- Monitor and encourage student behavior, engagement, and participation
- Assist with the supervision and safety of students
