Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary-aged students as a paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is full-time, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week with a schedule that includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 15-minute unpaid breaks. Located conveniently in North Chicago, you’ll work in an elementary school environment as an essential teaching assistant, making a tangible difference in students’ educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day classroom support to teachers, reinforcing lesson plans and assisting with group and 1:1 instruction.
- Help maintain a structured, positive learning atmosphere, especially for students with challenging behaviors.
- Deliver individualized support, responding to varying student needs and promoting their growth and independence.
- Support students across a range of activities, including transitions and routines.
- Assist with toileting as necessary, with a preference for candidates familiar with this aspect of care.
Qualifications Sought:
- Current Illinois Paraprofessional certification is required.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a classroom setting, ideally with elementary-aged children.
- Practical experience with challenging behaviors is strongly preferred.
- Comfort and previous involvement in assisting with toileting tasks.
- Strong communication skills and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
