Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a dynamic summer school setting from July 6th to August 14th. This position is located in the Elmira, NY area and focuses on 1:1 support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), making a significant difference in their daily learning experiences. The role offers steady hours—Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm—totaling approximately 27.5 to 30 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Current NY State license or certificate as a Teacher Assistant required; 1:1 experience is highly desirable for Aide roles (certification may be preferred).
- TCI Certification (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) is essential.
- Candidates with experience working 1:1 with students who have special needs, particularly ASD, will thrive in this environment.
- A couple of male candidates are especially sought as some students respond more positively to male Teacher Assistants.
- Strong communication and adaptability skills, as you’ll interact closely with both students and staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to assigned student(s) throughout the summer school day.
- Assist with implementing instructional and behavioral strategies tailored to student plans.
- Foster an inclusive and structured environment by supporting teachers and participating actively in activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation as required.
