Instructional Assistant - Westerly, RI

Two contract paraprofessional positions are now available for individuals eager to make a positive impact throughout the full academic year. Both roles offer the chance to develop your skills and experience while working closely with dedicated educators and students.

Openings Available:

• 1:1 Student Support: Provide dedicated, individualized assistance to a specific student, ensuring their safety and engagement during school hours. Some daily coverage responsibilities are included.
• Classroom-Based Paraprofessional: Support teachers in the classroom, foster a positive learning environment, and provide instructional or behavioral assistance to students as needed.

Candidates with an RBT certification are preferred, but individuals without this credential are welcome, as help will be provided to attain certification. Previous experience in a similar capacity is not required—enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are highly valued.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Commitment to working full-time for the entire school year, 7:50 AM–2:10 PM daily
• Ability to support students with diverse needs in a school setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Candidates must be able to reside on Block Island during the work week due to ferry schedules

Responsibilities:

• Deliver dedicated support to individual students or classrooms as assigned
• Assist in implementing lesson plans and behavioral interventions
• Foster a respectful, encouraging, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
• Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers and staff
• Adapt to daily coverage or changing support needs as required
