A rewarding opportunity is available for paraprofessionals committed to supporting diverse student needs across K-12 settings. This position involves working in classrooms and providing individualized assistance to students with various developmental and social-emotional challenges in a school district located in Westfield, MA. The position is a contract role for the current school year, offering valuable experience in a dynamic educational environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 support to a 4th grade non-verbal student in the Developmental Program.
- Assisting in 5th and 6th grade classrooms, potentially filling two paraprofessional roles.
- Supporting a 5th grade student in the Social Emotional Program; experience or certification related to Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is advantageous but not required.
- Middle and high school level support from 7:58 a.m. to 2:29 p.m.
- Possible 1:1 assistance for an 11th grade student recovering from a serious accident with significant physical impairments; nursing support may eventually be required.
- Supporting a 7th grade non-verbal life skills student.
- Assisting in 7th/8th grade classroom settings.
- Providing 2:1 support for two 11th grade students.
- Potential classroom support for 11th and 12th grade.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience or training as a paraprofessional in a K-12 setting.
- Ability to work effectively with students who have developmental disabilities and social-emotional challenges.
- Patience, compassion, and strong communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to various classroom environments and student needs.
- RBT certification is a plus but not mandatory.
