Teacher Assistant | Westfield, Massachusetts

A school district in Westfield, MA is seeking dedicated paraprofessionals to support students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. These contract positions provide essential one-on-one and classroom assistance to students with diverse developmental, social-emotional, and life skills needs.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a 4th grade non-verbal student in the Developmental Program (Elementary, 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM)
• Assist classroom instruction for 5th/6th grade students, with potentially two positions available
• Offer 1:1 support for a 5th grade student in the Social Emotional Program (Elementary), with Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential desirable but not mandatory
• Support middle and high school students during 7:58 AM – 2:29 PM, including potential 1:1 assistance for an 11th grader with paraplegia following a serious accident (needs subject to confirmation)
• Provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal 7th grade life skills student
• Assist in classroom settings for 7th/8th grades as well as 11th/12th grades as opportunities arise
• Provide 2:1 assistance for two 11th grade students

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working with developmental and social-emotional students preferred
• Patience, compassion, and strong communication skills
• Ability to adapt support strategies to individual student needs
• Basic knowledge of behavioral support and life skills programs helpful
• Flexibility to work various assignments within the school day schedules
