This contract opportunity offers hands-on involvement in classrooms dedicated to serving children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder or significant emotional and behavioral needs. Assignments are available in Carbon and Lehigh counties, with positions supporting Autism Support (ASI) and Emotional Support (ESI) classrooms.
Position Details
- Assignment runs August 10, 2026 – June 11, 2027 (school calendar; limited summer hours, full schedule resumes late August)
- Schedule: 32.5–35 hours weekly
- In-person interviews required
- Positions at various specialized learning environments, tailored to student needs
Key Responsibilities
Autism Support Interventionist (ASI)
- Provide individualized instructional and behavioral support to students with ASD
- Implement behavior intervention plans and use evidence-based practices (e.g., visual schedules, PECS, AAC)
- Assist with daily routines, transitions, social skills, and communication development
- Support personal care needs as required
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and collect data on student progress
Emotional Support Interventionist (ESI)
- Support students with emotional and behavioral health needs in therapeutic settings
- Implement individualized behavioral plans, including trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
- Build positive, professional relationships with students
- Aid with academics, behavioral interventions, and daily classroom routines
- Work closely with teachers, counselors, and mental health staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Education, Psychology, ABA, Human Services, or related field preferred
- Associate’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience (three years strongly preferred)
- Experience in autism, behavioral health, ABA, mental health, or special education settings
- Calm demeanor, strong behavioral management and crisis intervention skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Reliable, collaborative work ethic
- Must provide one completed supervisor reference check with application
