What We’re Looking For:
- At least one year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or similar position in a school or special education setting
- Experience with students requiring significant support, including personal care and behavioral management
- Candidates must satisfy one of Pennsylvania’s paraprofessional qualifications: 48 college credits, an associate degree (or higher), or a state/local competency assessment (or be willing to complete certification within 60 days)
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and firm when supporting students who exhibit challenging behaviors such as hitting, elopement, and screaming
- Availability for the full-time, school-day schedule (approx. 7:00 AM–3:30 PM)
- Reliable transportation and willingness to commute within 35 minutes of the site
- Commitment to consistent attendance and on-time arrival
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide academic and behavioral support alongside instructional staff in MDS (Multiple Disabilities Support) B-level classroom
- Assist with mobility, feeding, and daily routines, including toileting, hygiene, and transitions
- Ensure clear communication and safety during classroom activities
- Respond to a range of student behaviors with compassion and adherence to safety guidelines
