Classroom Assistant | Whitehall, Pennsylvania

Make a meaningful impact as a dedicated paraprofessional supporting a student in a Life Skills program. You'll work one-on-one with a student with autism who requires consistent structure to thrive throughout the school day. Your compassion and expertise will help create a positive, safe environment and keep students engaged in classroom activities. This contract role is full-time, Monday through Friday, and offers the opportunity to make a difference in a student's daily life while gaining valuable experience in a supportive school setting.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Experience working as a paraprofessional in a school setting
• Familiarity with Life Skills programs and supporting students with autism
• Comfortable managing challenging behaviors and supporting students who may attempt to leave the classroom if routines change
• Strong communication, patience, and a collaborative mindset
• Ability to adapt quickly and maintain a calm, consistent presence
• Dependable attendance and commitment to the full school year

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated, individualized support to a student throughout the school day
• Help maintain structured routines to minimize elopement risk and promote engagement
• Implement behavioral strategies as directed by educational staff
• Foster a positive learning environment and encourage social growth
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and therapists to meet student needs
• Assist with personal care and daily tasks as appropriate

This position runs from August 21, 2026, to June 4, 2027, and is approximately 35 hours per week, with regular hours around 7:15am to 3:00pm. The location is a high school Life Skills program where your expertise is valued.
