Instructional Aide - Whittier, CA

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity for the 26/27 school year as a Bus Aide supporting students during their daily commutes. Three positions are available, with flexible hours ranging from 10 to 15 per week, depending on bus routes. Morning shifts typically run from 6:30 am to 8:30 am, and afternoons from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. These roles begin as soon as possible and continue through May 28, 2027, with a strong possibility for renewal into the following school year. Extended School Year (ESY) candidates will also be considered for summer placements and resuming in August.

You’ll play a vital role riding with students to and from school, assisting in a 1:1 or 2:1 setting. Bus Aides are picked up at the school, accompany the driver to pick up the student at home, and then travel back to the school. For dismissal, the same routine is followed in reverse. Candidates with paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) experience are encouraged to apply, especially those with a background supporting special needs children and familiarity with bus transportation.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience as a Paraprofessional or CNA
• Experience working with children with special needs
• Verbal de-escalation skills
• Preferred background riding the bus with students
• Reliable communication and commitment to regular attendance

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring student safety during transport
• Providing support and supervision in a 1:1 or 2:1 caseload
• Assisting with loading and unloading as needed
• Communicating effectively with drivers and school staff
