Instructional Aide - Wilkes Barre, PA

Make a difference in the lives of students as a Personal Care Aide supporting classrooms in a dynamic school district near Wilkes Barre, PA. This contract position starts as soon as possible and continues through June 2027, with 35 hours per week onsite in local schools. Placement is based on the needs of the district, and you may be assigned to any of the following school sites: elementary, intermediate, high school, or specialized settings. Flexibility and adaptability are key for thriving in this supportive educational environment.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Prior experience as a Paraprofessional or Personal Care Aide in school settings
• Understanding of student support for a range of needs, including emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges
• Ability to follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom routines
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers and school staff
• Current Pennsylvania credentialing, including:
  • Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Clearance)
  • Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting with Department of Education)
  • Act 126 (Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training)
  • TB testing (2-Step or Quantiferon Blood Test)
  • Act 168 (if applicable)
  • Recent physical
  • PATCH/Act 134 (State Police Background Check)
  • Willingness to complete a pre-assigned drug screening

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small-group student support throughout the day
• Assist students with daily routines and classroom participation
• Implement recommendations from educators and therapists
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
