Support students with autism as a paraprofessional in a dynamic elementary school classroom, covering for a maternity leave from late October through the end of March. In this contract role, you’ll provide essential one-on-one and small-group support for children with varying needs on the autism spectrum, helping create an engaging, inclusive environment. This position requires working on site Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit required (must be in hand; applications in process will not be considered unless a screenshot from the DEEDS portal is provided)
  • Experience supporting students with autism preferred, particularly within a structured, supportive classroom environment
  • Willingness to complete required $85 CBC fingerprinting before start date
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration with teachers and specialists
  • If also an RBT, be aware that supervision for your RBT certification is not provided during work hours

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting students individually and in groups to encourage participation, communication, and skill building
  • Collaborating closely with lead teachers, therapists, and fellow paraprofessionals to implement behavior and learning strategies
  • Assisting with classroom activities, daily routines, and data collection as needed
  • Maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Adapting support strategies under the guidance of the classroom teacher and IEP team
