Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a paraprofessional or assistant in a school setting
  • Specific background supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is required
  • Familiarity with providing accommodations for students who are non-readers/non-writers
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school staff for cohesive support
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate approach to helping neurodiverse learners succeed
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 assistance to a middle school student throughout the school day
  • Implement accommodations as directed by the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Support participation in classroom instruction, activities, and transitions
  • Assist with adaptive communication strategies to foster engagement and comprehension
