Instructional Assistant - Ypsilanti, MI

You will collaborate closely with transportation staff, ensuring a calm and monitored environment from pickup through drop-off.

Key Qualifications:

• Previous experience working as a paraprofessional, particularly with students who display behavioral challenges
• Demonstrated skills in de-escalation, crisis prevention, and behavior management
• Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to working with students requiring constant supervision
• Ability to provide non-judgmental, proactive support in unpredictable situations (including spitting and undressing behaviors)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities:

• Accompany a female student on the school bus each day, maintaining continuous supervision and support throughout each run
• Remain vigilant to ensure the student's safety and the safety of others
• Intervene and redirect as needed to address behavioral incidents in a calm and positive manner
• Communicate regularly with bus personnel and report on behavioral incidents or concerns
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all school and district policies

Schedule:

• Monday through Thursday: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM & 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM
• Friday: 5:00 AM – 9:00 AM & 12:45 PM – 4:45 PM
• 8 hours daily during student transportation times
