Step into an impactful contract opportunity working closely with individuals in an Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) program near Binghamton, NY. This year-round outpatient setting offers a chance to make meaningful connections with patients aged 12 through adulthood—primarily young adults—providing essential physical therapy services to enhance their quality of life.

This role involves a manageable commitment of 15-20 hours per week, with most patients attending two sessions weekly. The caseload includes individuals with a wide array of disabilities, though the work does not require implementation of restraints. The successful provider will bring not only robust PT expertise in both school and healthcare environments, but also a genuine passion for building rapport and supporting clients of varying abilities.

Desired background and qualifications:

  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) with experience in school and healthcare settings
  • Comfort working with adolescents to older adults, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Understanding of the Medicare/Medicaid system (script writing not required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills—a warm, collaborative approach is essential for fostering trust and engagement with patients
  • Experience in I/DD programs or similar outpatient clinics highly valued

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide consistent PT interventions, adjusting methods to align with each individual's needs and abilities
  • Track patient progress and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as needed
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation compliant with Medicare/Medicaid requirements
  • Establish positive, respectful relationships with patients and their support networks
