Physical Therapist - School Setting in Elmwood Park, IL

This contract opportunity is designed for a dedicated professional who thrives in educational settings, with a primary focus on supporting students’ physical development and well-being. Located near Elmwood Park, IL, this role spans two days per week, totaling approximately 14 hours, with a manageable caseload of about 20 students. You’ll have the unique chance to work both with students on campus and those who are homebound, offering a varied and rewarding experience. There’s even the potential for the assignment to extend into the summer, allowing for continued impact.

Qualifications:

• Valid Physical Therapy license and certification
• Experience as a school-based physical therapist, or a strong interest in pediatric therapy
• Competency in creating and implementing IEP goals for students with diverse needs
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to support both in-person and homebound learners effectively

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate students’ functional abilities and develop tailored intervention plans
• Deliver one-on-one and small group therapy sessions to address mobility, strength, and coordination
• Document therapy progress, adapting plans as needed based on student response
• Consult regularly with teachers, aides, and families to support the generalization of physical skills
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough, up-to-date records
