Seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to support students in a dynamic school setting near Laurel, Maryland. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within an educational environment, working with children and young adults ages 3–21. The assignment begins as soon as possible and extends year-round, including participation in a four-week Extended School Year program through summer, with the opportunity to continue into the next academic year.
This full-time role is scheduled for 35 hours each week, Monday through Friday, featuring a flexible daytime structure with a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch. Periodic early morning and evening sessions for consults or training may be required, providing valuable flexibility to your workday.
Desired qualifications and skills:
- Active Physical Therapy licensure from the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
- In-depth understanding of normal and atypical sensory-motor development and musculoskeletal function
- Experience utilizing age-appropriate assessment and intervention techniques for students with a wide range of disabilities
- Familiarity with orthotics, wheelchairs, adaptive positioning equipment, and assistive technology for diverse pediatric populations
- Comfortable working across the full school age spectrum (ages 3 to 21)
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized therapy plans
- Conducting thorough evaluations and documenting student progress
- Participating in educational consultations, periodic training, and parent/staff communications
- Adapting interventions and recommending equipment to support student access and success in the school environment
