Spend your summer making a difference working with students in a supportive educational environment! A contract opportunity is available for a physical therapist to provide essential services in a school-based Extended School Year (ESY) program from July 6 to August 14. You'll work with a close-knit group of five students, all of whom are non-verbal, focusing on their growth and mobility needs. Each student has a mandate for one 30-minute physical therapy session per week.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred, especially with students who are non-verbal or have diverse communication needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educational staff and families
- Knowledge of adaptive communication supports and assistive technology is a plus
- Compassion, patience, and creativity when working with children with special needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized PT interventions during 30-minute weekly sessions per student
- Assess mobility, strength, and physical development to tailor therapy plans
- Collaborate with teachers, aids, and related service providers to support student goals
- Document session notes and progress in compliance with school and regulatory guidelines
- Communicate regularly with families and school staff regarding student progress
