Physical Therapist - School Setting in Plainfield, IL

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential physical therapy services to students across mixed grade levels, with a significant focus on transition-aged young adults (20–22 years old). This short-term position begins in mid-August and runs through early November, offering the chance to make a direct impact on students’ educational journeys.

As a critical member of the onsite special education team, you will deliver educationally relevant physical therapy interventions, supporting the acquisition or compensation of gross motor skill deficits. Collaborate with educators, other therapists, and families to promote optimal student outcomes and foster inclusion in the school environment.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current Illinois Physical Therapist license
• Demonstrated experience working in pediatric settings
• Previous school-based physical therapy experience is essential
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students to determine physical therapy needs and develop individualized intervention plans
• Provide direct therapy services to support gross motor development and functional mobility within the school context
• Consult with educators, parents, and related service providers to create supportive learning environments
• Monitor and document progress, updating goals and interventions as necessary
• Serve a varied caseload, with a focus on transition-aged special education students

This is a full-time, onsite contract role (37.5 hours per week), ideal for PTs passionate about empowering students in the school setting. You’ll have the chance to work alongside dedicated peers and positively influence students’ independence and participation at a formative stage.
