Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in New York State
- Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting is highly desired
- Strong understanding of motor development and school-based therapy practices
- Effective communication skills to engage students, educators, and families
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Adaptable and resourceful approach to meeting the diverse needs of students
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ motor skills and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide direct physical therapy sessions to support students in meeting their educational and functional objectives
- Collaborate with teachers, occupational and speech therapists, and school staff to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities
- Document progress and maintain detailed records to support ongoing intervention and compliance requirements
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
