Key Qualifications:
- Current Physical Therapist license in New York State
- Experience working with children in a school or educational environment
- Understanding of therapeutic strategies for students with multiple sensory and cognitive impairments
- Compassion, creativity, and strong communication skills for collaboration with families and district staff
- Ability to assess, plan, and document student progress efficiently
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct two 30-minute individualized physical therapy sessions per week (as per IEP requirements) at the district’s facility
- Develop and implement adapted physical therapy plans addressing mobility, strength, and functional skills
- Monitor and record the student’s response to therapy and adjust goals collaboratively with the educational team
- Utilize specialized strategies to enhance participation for students with both visual and hearing impairments
- Partner with guardians and educators to deliver holistic, student-centered care and suggest effective carryover activities for home
