This opportunity is for a Physical Therapist to support students across two school locations serving children ages 6 to 21 in a K-12 educational setting in West Hartford, CT. The position offers a contract through June 12, 2026, with a full-time Monday–Friday schedule up to 40 hours per week; part-time candidates will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized physical therapy programs aligned with IEP goals.
- Provide direct therapy and consultative services across multiple school sites.
- Collaborate with educators, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and vocational staff to support student success.
- Promote functional mobility, safety, and independence within academic and vocational environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress in compliance with school and state regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain prior to employment.
- Experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Dedication to inclusive, student-centered therapeutic practices.
Caseload includes students with autism spectrum disorders, seizure disorders, genetic syndromes such as Fragile X, metabolic disorders, dual diagnoses, and youth preparing for vocational transition at age 22. The program emphasizes behavioral approaches grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
