In this impactful role, you’ll provide essential one-on-one guidance to a student with behavioral needs, helping foster positive growth and success throughout their day.
Your role will involve working alongside dedicated educators and specialists to deliver targeted support in the classroom and beyond, including hallways, lunch, recess, and other school activities. By modeling and encouraging positive behaviors, you’ll play a key part in helping the student develop effective coping strategies and social skills. When challenges arise, you’ll draw upon your training in de-escalation and crisis support to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized behavioral support to a student across various school settings
- Reinforce positive behaviors and model constructive coping strategies
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and provide crisis management as necessary
- Work collaboratively with teachers, behavior specialists, and support staff
- Maintain confidentiality and follow prescribed strategies from educators and specialists
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some districts may prefer college coursework or an associate’s degree
- Prior experience working with children or youth in educational or childcare settings is valued
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exhibits patience, empathy, and composure in dynamic situations
- Able to follow direction while upholding discretion and confidentiality
