Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a dedicated school-based Behavior Support Paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician near Hickory, NC. In this impactful role, you will provide compassionate, 1:1 behavioral support to a middle school student, collaborating closely with a supportive school team. Your expertise in behavior management and de-escalation will make a meaningful difference every day as you foster a safe, inclusive, and productive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized behavioral support to a middle school student throughout the school day
- Implement evidence-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity alongside the educational team
- Identify behavioral triggers and use proactive strategies to minimize escalation
- Apply proven de-escalation techniques to maintain student and staff safety
- Accurately collect behavioral data and track student progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Assist with classroom participation, transitions, and social skills development
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adhere to school policies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active RBT certification preferred; experienced former RBTs and paraprofessionals with strong behavioral backgrounds are welcome
- Experience implementing BIPs in school or clinical environments
- In-depth understanding of behavior management, trigger identification, and positive supports
- Prior experience supporting middle or high-needs students is highly regarded
- CPI, Safety-Care, or related crisis prevention training a plus
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Meet all district background check and hiring standards
This contract position starts August 20, 2026, offering a schedule of Monday–Friday (32.5 hours per week), working 1:1 within a middle school setting.
