Make a daily difference working as a Behavior Support Paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in a supportive school-based environment near Hickory, NC. This contract role offers the opportunity to provide direct 1:1 support for a middle school student, helping guide positive behaviors and create a safe and productive learning atmosphere. Professionals with RBT certification, previous RBT experience, or a strong background in behavior support are encouraged to apply.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current RBT certification preferred; open to experienced former RBTs and paraprofessionals with behavioral support expertise
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in school or clinical settings
  • Proficient with behavior management strategies, trigger identification, and proactive intervention
  • Background working with middle or high-needs student populations is highly desirable
  • Training or experience with CPI, Safety-Care, or other crisis prevention techniques is a plus
  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s in education, psychology, or related field preferred
  • Ability to meet all district hiring and background requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistent 1:1 behavioral support for a designated middle school student throughout the school day
  • Implement BIPs as directed by the educational team
  • Recognize behavioral triggers and deploy strategies to prevent escalation
  • Apply de-escalation techniques while ensuring a safe environment for all
  • Collect, document, and report behavioral data to monitor progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service professionals
  • Assist with classroom participation, transitions, and supporting social skills
