Make a daily difference working as a Behavior Support Paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in a supportive school-based environment near Hickory, NC. This contract role offers the opportunity to provide direct 1:1 support for a middle school student, helping guide positive behaviors and create a safe and productive learning atmosphere. Professionals with RBT certification, previous RBT experience, or a strong background in behavior support are encouraged to apply.
Key Qualifications:
- Current RBT certification preferred; open to experienced former RBTs and paraprofessionals with behavioral support expertise
- Demonstrated experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in school or clinical settings
- Proficient with behavior management strategies, trigger identification, and proactive intervention
- Background working with middle or high-needs student populations is highly desirable
- Training or experience with CPI, Safety-Care, or other crisis prevention techniques is a plus
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s in education, psychology, or related field preferred
- Ability to meet all district hiring and background requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent 1:1 behavioral support for a designated middle school student throughout the school day
- Implement BIPs as directed by the educational team
- Recognize behavioral triggers and deploy strategies to prevent escalation
- Apply de-escalation techniques while ensuring a safe environment for all
- Collect, document, and report behavioral data to monitor progress
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service professionals
- Assist with classroom participation, transitions, and supporting social skills
