This school-based contract opportunity provides a fulfilling role supporting a middle school student near Newton, NC with their behavioral and learning needs. You'll step into an environment where each day brings the chance to foster positive change—utilizing your experience as a Behavior Support Paraprofessional, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or paraprofessional with strong behavioral background.

Work closely with educational teams to implement individualized behavior intervention plans. As a dedicated 1:1 support, you’ll recognize behavioral triggers, utilize effective proactive strategies, and practice sound de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe, encouraging classroom. This position suits professionals who thrive on building meaningful relationships and contributing tangibly to student growth and success.

Qualifications & Preferred Background:

  • Active RBT certification is preferred, but experienced paraprofessionals and former RBTs are welcome
  • Proven background in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) within a school or clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of positive behavior support, trigger identification, and effective behavior management
  • Experience with middle school or high-needs student populations highly preferred
  • CPI, Safety-Care, or other crisis prevention/de-escalation credentials are a plus
  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to meet standard district hiring and background check protocols

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 support throughout the school day for a middle school student
  • Implement BIPs under the guidance of the educational team
  • Identify and address behavioral triggers and proactively prevent escalation
  • Collect and document behavioral data
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related providers
  • Support class participation, transitions, and student social skill development
