Step into a dynamic school-based setting as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), where you’ll provide 1:1 support to a middle school student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Leveraging your expertise in behavioral strategies and ABA-based interventions, you’ll play a vital role in the student’s daily success, collaborating closely with both teachers and behavioral support staff. This contract position offers the opportunity to directly impact the development of positive social skills, independence, and successful classroom participation for a student who will benefit from patient, individualized attention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent 1:1 behavioral and educational support throughout the school day
- Implement behavior intervention plans, monitor student progress, and follow ABA strategies
- Address avoidance behaviors, facilitate positive peer interactions, and resolve conflicts as needed
- Identify behavioral triggers and use proactive, preventative strategies to avoid escalation
- Apply de-escalation techniques and maintain composure during challenging moments
- Collect data on behaviors and skill development, reporting regularly to the support team
- Foster open communication, positive social behavior, and the student’s growing independence
- Maintain professionalism and a patient demeanor at all times in and out of the classroom
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active RBT registration through the BACB (required)
- Current CPI certification (required)
- Previous experience with ASD and school-based behavioral support
- Background in ABA or behavior intervention
- Strong collaborative, communication, and observational skills
- Ability to remain consistent, calm, and patient with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
This full-time assignment follows a Monday–Friday schedule (7:45 AM–2:45 PM, 32.5 hours per week). Compensation ranges from $24.00–$33.00 per hour, depending on experience. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401(k) with company match, are available.
