Embark on a fulfilling contract role as a Behavior Support Paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting students in a dynamic school environment near Hickory, NC. This position focuses on providing essential 1:1 behavioral support to a middle school student, ensuring individualized behavioral interventions, safety, and a positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistent 1:1 behavioral support throughout the school day
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) under guidance from the educational team
  • Spot behavioral triggers and use proactive strategies to minimize escalation
  • Employ de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe and constructive environment
  • Collect and document behavioral data to track progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and service providers
  • Support classroom participation, transitions, and social skill development
  • Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with school policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active RBT certification preferred; experienced former RBTs and paraprofessionals also welcome
  • Direct experience implementing BIPs in school or clinical settings
  • Strong grasp of behavior management, trigger identification, and positive behavior supports
  • Prior work with middle or high-needs student populations is highly valued
  • CPI, Safety-Care, or similar crisis management training is beneficial
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred
  • Ability to meet all hiring and background requirements

Position Details:

  • Monday-Friday, 32.5 hours per week
  • Focused 1:1 caseload with a middle school student
  • Role begins August 20, 2026
