Reading Specialist in Gurnee, IL

This contract position extends from August 17 through May 27, 2027, offering a meaningful way to impact Pre K-2 students in their formative reading journeys. Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a closely related field.
• Current Illinois Professional Educator License, with the appropriate endorsements.
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design and delivering differentiated instruction.
• Exceptional communication abilities—both verbal and written.
• Experience fostering literacy in early elementary environments is strongly valued.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and effective reading instruction in a K-2 library media setting.
• Evaluate student reading levels and provide targeted interventions to nurture founding literacy skills.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support core curriculum and integrate media resources effectively.
• Plan, implement, and assess individualized and group reading activities.
• Curate library and digital resources appropriate for early learners’ needs.
• Maintain accurate records to monitor student progress and instructional outcomes.
• Create an inclusive, supportive environment that motivates students to become enthusiastic readers.

This is an onsite-only role, requiring a committed, hands-on presence to help students discover the joy of reading in a dynamic library environment.
