Reading Specialist in Round Lake, IL

Make a difference in early childhood literacy as a Reading Specialist working full-time within a vibrant Pre K-2 library media setting. This contract position runs from August 17 through May 27, 2027, and is entirely onsite—ideal for educators who thrive on in-person engagement with young learners. You’ll play a key role in supporting kindergarten through 2nd grade students, offering both library and learning support tailored to their developmental levels.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with applicable endorsement(s)
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and instruction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Prior experience in a school setting as a Reading Specialist or similar role recommended

Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted reading interventions and literacy support within the library media setting for K-2 students
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to design and implement engaging, grade-appropriate reading activities
• Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages a love of reading
• Assist with library management, including book selection and organizing reading resources
• Track and report student progress, tailoring intervention strategies based on individual needs
• Communicate regularly with staff and families to promote student success
