Reading Specialist - Upper Darby, PA

Make a meaningful impact on students’ literacy journeys in a vibrant school community as a dedicated professional supporting elementary and K-8 learners. Two exciting full-time contract positions are available, offering the opportunity to work onsite with a diverse student body. The caseload includes elementary and K-8 students and involves 35 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through June 10, 2027.

Ideal candidates hold an active Pennsylvania reading specialist certification and are passionate about fostering strong reading skills. Mastery in reading instruction, classroom management, differentiation, and formative assessment is essential for success in this role. Previous school-based experience, particularly in urban educational settings, helps you thrive and make a difference where it’s needed most.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Pennsylvania certification/licensure as a reading specialist
• Demonstrated expertise in reading instruction and subject matter
• School-based experience, ideally in urban settings
• Comfort working within the location and district community
• Strong skills in classroom and behavioral management
• Ability to create effective, standards-aligned lesson plans and utilize assessment-driven instruction
• Reliable transportation and completion of all required PA clearances

Responsibilities include designing and implementing lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards, utilizing ongoing assessment data to differentiate instruction, and leveraging strong classroom management to promote a positive learning environment.
