Special Education Reading Specialist | West Chester, Pennsylvania

A full-time position is available for a Reading Specialist passionate about making a significant difference in young learners’ lives. This role is onsite and runs from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours.

You’ll collaborate with educators and staff, shaping literacy instruction and intervention for students at an elementary level. The ideal candidate thrives in an urban school environment, brings expertise in current state and district standards, and is adept at differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Qualifications:

• Active Pennsylvania reading specialist certification/licensure
• Demonstrated mastery of reading instruction and intervention strategies
• Prior experience in a school-based setting
• Strong classroom and behavioral management skills
• Experience working in urban schools
• Reliable transportation required
• Ability to complete all PA clearances before the start date
• Mastery of instructional planning using formative assessments
• Comfort level with the district and school location

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ reading needs
• Align instruction with Pennsylvania state and district literacy standards
• Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment
• Use formative assessment data to guide and adjust instructional strategies
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to maximize student progress
• Engage in ongoing communication with staff and administrators regarding student performance
