Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted Illinois RN license
- Previous experience as a School RN or in a similar school-based healthcare role
- In-depth knowledge of school nursing best practices and relevant Illinois state regulations
- Ability to manage medical records and uphold confidentiality standards
- Strong assessment, communication, and triage skills
- Adaptability and a collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to students for illnesses, injuries, and chronic health conditions
- Ensure medication administration and health procedures are performed accurately
- Support and participate in health screenings, immunization compliance, and individualized health plans
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date health records in alignment with district and legal standards
- Educate students and staff on health topics, safety procedures, and wellness initiatives
- Respond efficiently to health emergencies or urgent school medical needs
- Drive communication between families, educators, and healthcare providers
- Focus on supporting the RN renewal process throughout the school year
