This opportunity calls for a dedicated and compassionate Certified School Nurse (CSN) with a PEL certification, ready to begin a 12-week maternity leave coverage starting December 14, 2026, through March 15, 2027. You’ll have the unique opportunity to work across both a high school and an elementary school in an engaging, diverse educational environment.
What you’ll bring:
- Active Illinois Certified School Nurse (CSN) license
- Valid PEL (Professional Educator License)—required for consideration
- Prior experience in school nursing or serving youth populations
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
- Ability to work assigned school hours at both sites
- A genuine passion for supporting student health and participating in multi-disciplinary teams
What you’ll do:
- Provide daily care to students in school health offices, addressing acute and chronic health needs
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, advocating for students with special/medical needs
- Collaborate with staff and parents to ensure health plans and safety protocols are implemented
- Maintain accurate health records and deliver essential public health education
- Adapt to the unique routines of both high school (Monday–Wednesday, 7am–2:30pm) and elementary school (Thursday–Friday, 8am–4pm)
- Serve as a key resource for health-related concerns within the school community
