Embark on a rewarding school-based contract opportunity supporting student health in a collaborative and vibrant elementary environment near Aurora, IL. We are seeking 1-2 Certified School Nurses (CSN) or current CSN students with a BSN and a PEL endorsement—please note, this is not a traditional RN or LPN role. You’ll be based at a bustling elementary school from now through late May 2027, working in-person school hours (8:25am–3:40pm).
You'll play a crucial role by managing the health office, conducting medical reviews, and actively participating in IEP and 504 processes alongside a dedicated team. Your expertise will be vital for delivering essential care and fostering a supportive atmosphere for students—including those with diverse needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Illinois PEL endorsement for Certified School Nurse (CSN) required—RN-only candidates will not be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Working toward or completion of CSN coursework/training (1-2 years typically required)
- CSN experience and/or bilingual Spanish communication skills strongly preferred
- Commitment to the full academic year with outstanding attendance and reliability
- Strong initiative, comfort with independent work, and proven teamwork skills
- Flexibility and willingness to support students’ health and personal care needs
- Comfortable using technology for electronic health records, IEP/504 documentation
Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operation of the health office
- Perform timely and accurate medical reviews
- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings and documentation
- Support students’ health and personal care needs as part of a unified staff team
- Step in as needed to assist with health-related emergencies or student support
