Make a meaningful impact by supporting a high school student in a one-on-one setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to ensure the well-being of a cognitively high-functioning, paralyzed student—making a direct difference each day.
Key Details:
- 30 hours per week
- Wednesdays off; student does not attend school on this day
- Bus riding is a required part of the assignment
- Contract position in a school environment
- Offering flexibility with both RN and LPN candidates considered (LPNs must have ventilator experience)
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current, valid RN or LPN license (LPNs must demonstrate ventilator proficiency)
- Experience in school-based or pediatric care preferred
- Comfortable providing 1:1 medical support to a high school student
- Ability to assist with bus transportation as part of daily routine
- Professionalism, compassion, and adaptability in meeting student needs
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with faculty, parents, and the student
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care for a paralyzed, high-functioning student during school hours and bus rides
- Monitor and manage the student’s ventilator and other health needs
- Support daily living activities as needed while encouraging student independence
- Maintain accurate and timely health records per school and nursing guidelines
- Serve as a critical link between home, school staff, and medical providers
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergent medical situations
- Uphold student dignity and confidentiality at all times
