A full-time registered nurse (RN) position is available in Boston, MA, focusing on providing dedicated care to a medically fragile student in a school setting. This contract role requires an active Massachusetts RN license and offers the opportunity to work closely one-on-one with a student who is non-verbal and wheelchair bound, utilizing an iPad for communication.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Massachusetts (LPNs not eligible)
- Experience with medically fragile pediatric patients
- Skilled in suctioning and seizure care
- Ability to work full-time with flexibility for covering other school assignments as needed
- Strong communication skills, especially in supporting non-verbal students
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care to a medically complex student during school hours
- Provide specialized nursing interventions including suctioning and seizure management
- Support student's communication through use of assistive technology (iPad)
- Maintain accurate health records and collaborate with educational staff
- Provide nursing support in other schools within the district when the primary student is absent, ensuring continuous coverage
