Step into a vital and rewarding full-time position supporting a preschool student in a school-based setting. This contract opportunity offers consistent weekday hours of 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours each week. The assignment is unique: you will provide dedicated 1:1 care for a young female student, including accompanying her on the bus to and from school, ensuring continuity and safety throughout her day.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN licensure in Massachusetts
- Previous experience in a school setting or working with pediatric populations, especially preschool-aged children, is preferred
- Skilled in tracheostomy care, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
- Proficient in the administration and monitoring of prescribed oxygen therapy
- Competence in enteral feeding tube care, including feedings and medication administration
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and ability to remain calm in critical situations
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with families, transportation staff, educators, and healthcare teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on clinical support and compassionate care to a single preschool student throughout the school day, including during bus transportation
- Monitor and respond to any changes in the student’s respiratory status or medical needs
- Perform regular and as-needed trach care, airway management, and suctioning to maintain a safe airway
- Administer prescribed oxygen therapy, closely monitoring the student’s condition and equipment functionality
- Prepare, administer, and document enteral feedings and medications via feeding tube
- Maintain clear documentation and effective communication with school staff, healthcare providers, and family members
