School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Boston, Massachusetts

Make a real difference each morning supporting a small group of students with complex medical needs on their daily bus ride. This contract opportunity for an RN or LPN offers engaging, meaningful work in a supportive school environment, with orientation and resources to help you provide excellent care. Based near Boston, this position starts as soon as possible and continues through mid-June 2027.

Your morning shifts will begin with student pickups at 6:15 AM from the Virginia Barton Education Center, concluding by approximately 7:45 AM, for a total of roughly 7.5 hours weekly. You’ll have the chance to get to know students and their needs, offering critical nursing care during transit and ensuring safety and comfort every day.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Massachusetts RN or LPN license
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience
• Experience or confidence in supporting students with medical needs such as g-tubes, seizure disorders (Valtoco PRN), respiratory care, and diabetes management
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a dynamic environment
• Commitment to compassionate, attentive care

Your Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor students for safety, intervene with appropriate nursing measures as needed (medication administration, g-tube care, O2 and sat monitoring, seizure protocol)
• Communicate clearly with students, bus staff, and collaborating school nurses
• Review student transportation plans in advance
• Participate in route orientation and shadowing period before working independently
• Maintain accurate records of care provided
• Respond professionally to any health emergencies during transit
