Embark on a meaningful role supporting students in a dynamic educational setting near the Buffalo, NY area! This contract nursing position is an excellent opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses or LPN/LVN professionals passionate about school-based care. You’ll be making an immediate impact, starting as soon as possible through June 26, 2026, with a manageable part-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:45 am to 4:15 pm (27.5 hours per week).
In this role, you will provide specialized support for a student with diabetes, offering ongoing monitoring throughout the school day. Your responsibilities include riding the bus with the student to and from their work-based program and providing supervision during their activities. Your clinical expertise and attentive care will play a key role in ensuring the student’s safety, comfort, and access to best-in-class healthcare while at school and while traveling.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active NY State Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- School nursing experience or previous work with pediatric populations preferred
- Knowledge and experience in diabetes management and emergency protocols
- LPN/LVN candidates with strong diabetes care skills also considered
- Excellent communication and observational abilities
- Professionalism, compassion, and reliability are essential
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage diabetic care for one student throughout the school day
- Administer insulin and monitor blood glucose as directed
- Travel on the bus with the student, ensuring their needs are met during transit
- Supervise the student in the work-based program setting and collaborate with school staff
- Accurately document all care provided and communicate changes in the student’s condition
Compensation ranges from $35 to $40 per hour for Registered Nurses, reflecting your expertise and the critical nature of this position.
