Seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide specialized care in a supportive school environment near Vancouver, WA, including surrounding communities such as Camas. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering 1:1 nursing support to a high school student, ensuring their safety, well-being, and ability to thrive academically.
The position follows a consistent schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, accompanying the student during bus pickup at 7:59am and drop off at 4:15pm. You’ll work primarily at a designated campus, forming a trusted healthcare partnership with the student and school staff.
Essential Qualifications:
- Active RN license in the state of Washington
- Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric settings
- Strong background in medication management and administration
- Proficient with G-Tube feeding and ongoing monitoring
- Skilled in performing catheterizations as needed
- Familiarity with safe use of Hoyer Lift for assisting mobility
- Ability to perform oral and nasal suctioning with precision and care
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Compassion and professionalism working with students with complex medical needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care during school hours, including safe transport on the school bus
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects or complications
- Support and monitor G-Tube feedings, catheterizations, and suctioning procedures
- Assist with student mobility utilizing the Hoyer Lift
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records
- Serve as a resource for school staff regarding the student’s care plan
- Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere to promote student participation in school activities
