School Registered Nurse (RN) in Cambridge, MA

Looking to make a direct impact in the life of a high school student while utilizing your nursing expertise? A rewarding contract opportunity is available for an experienced RN to provide 1:1 care in a school-based setting near Cambridge, MA. Working part-time on Fridays during the academic year, you’ll ensure the well-being of a student diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus at a specialized educational facility.

This assignment is perfect for professionals who enjoy focused care and are versed in the unique demands of school nursing. The contract runs from August 26th through June 15th, with on-site hours from 8:30am–3:00pm each Friday.

Your qualifications:

• Current, active RN license/certification
• Experience working in a school setting
• Expertise in school nursing, particularly with high school populations
• Knowledge about management of Diabetes Insipidus (distinct from Diabetes Type 1)
• Reliable transportation for commuting to the school site
• Availability to consistently work specified hours on Fridays (no schedule accommodations available)

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor and ensure accurate fluid intake for the student
• Assist with mobility (the student uses a wheelchair and requires help ambulating, but is independent with toileting)
• Administer a noon dose of prescribed medication and evaluate for symptoms of sodium imbalance
• Act as a collaborative partner with school staff to support the student’s health and daily needs
