A High School in Camden, SC is seeking a registered nurse (RN) with school nursing experience to support a student on a 1:1 basis for the current school year (CSY). This contract position requires specialized clinical skills in a school setting, providing direct health care to a student with complex medical needs.

The RN will work a full school day from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, beginning and ending at the high school. In the middle of the day, the nurse will accompany the student on the bus to a technical center for activities, remaining available to provide necessary care throughout the day. The ideal candidate must have experience managing tracheostomy care, with gastrostomy tube (G-tube) expertise considered a strong asset.

Key qualifications include:

  • Current RN licensure with demonstrated school nursing or pediatric care experience
  • Competence in tracheostomy management to ensure student safety and respiratory support
  • Familiarity with G-tube feeding protocols and related care procedures preferred
  • Ability to accompany and support the student during transit to off-site locations
  • Strong communication and clinical judgment to respond effectively to health needs in a school environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care during the school day, addressing all health interventions required by the student
  • Conduct routine assessments and maintain accurate health records per school district protocols
  • Collaborate with educators, family, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care planning
  • Ensure safe transport and medical support during bus rides to external educational settings
  • Adhere to infection control standards and emergency procedures for student safety
